Hello,
i have registred my domain name with netfirms.ca and then i got my hosting from godaddy.com
godaddy said i destitution to update my DNS numbers with theirs.. i went to my netfirms account and updated DNS..
when i personification my domain name address it still opens my netfirms (free hosting) page..
question #1: how crave does it take for DNS to update so it points to my godaddy account.
question #2: anyone frequent with godaddy, in control pannels.. it says domain name: and then Server IP Address-whats that ip approach devote that it shows me?
question #3: anyone familiar with godaddy.com, in DNS control is says:
A(Drove)
Host: @ points to xx.xxx.xxx.xx
whats that @ symbol? do i need to change it?
in cnames(aliases)
www points to @
do i necessity to change that? or leave it all at defaults.
question #4: anyone familiar with netfirms.ca, in domains straw boss i can forward my domain to a different location. for now it points to my netfirms.. should i change that to godaddy? IP?
Once you commence the DNS1 and DNS2 addresses to the Godaddy address, it takes about 48 hours before the switch takes OK.

Domain Hosting?
May 18, 2008 by Mandy M | Posted in Small Business
I'm new at this but assertive to give this all a try. I am setting up an online clothing store for my cousin and am deciding on a which web host i should use. I'm deciding between 1&1 internet's beginner plot ( http://order.1and1.com/xml/order/Hosting ;jsessionid=88187EA73EAACF8C9D753C2E75A4 16E3.TC61b?__framework=_top&__lf=Static ) and hostgator's hatchling or baby plan ( http://www.hostgator.com/shared.shtml )
for the hundred of domains in a package::
does that mean i can only have like a HOME page? and no other links connecting to it? like a client service page?? or is that a subdomain?
what do you suggest?
10 POINTS FOR BEST ANSWER
Mandy, It is expert that you have narrowed your match for web hosting down to two options. If you go with the hatchling plan you will only have one domain which will be your home page. If you are looking to have multiple pages I would go with the next down up. Most web hosts offer unlimited domain hosting which means that you can have a home page and an unlimited amount of sub-domains linking to it.
I be acquainted with that the web host I use is not one of your options listed. However, the web host that I use has a informative web page built to aid know the key factors to look for in choosing the right web host.
