Where can I get free domain names and free web hosting?

I was wondering if you can get both free domain names and free web hosting and where you can get it?
PLEASE DO NOT SAY GOOGLE IT.
I have been googling, but most websites seem to say free, but then homelessness to charge you.
I'm not being a cheapskate, i was just wondering if there was any for free, because i'd rather not give credit card/bank details online.
So where can I get free domain and hosting?

I found a whopping online list of personal web hosting companies. http://www.findwebsitehost.com Locating a close webhosting company might have it's advantages because you can visit their facility if you need help.

I necessity a website with free web hosting, and if possible, a free domain name (so nothing like http://me.them.com/ or http://them.com/me/). I also require to be masterful to completely write the website myself -- so nothing like Piczo.
The server needs to subsidize PHP, Javascript and VBScript aswell.
I should add that adverts are ok; but only one or two ads per page.
Thanks, I found 000webhost, I signed up to it. What about domain names? Do you have knowledge of if I can get a free domain, such as domain.co.uk or domain.com? .org and .net; or even less common ones, are fine too.

I would advise "IX WebHosting" because it's very cheap and reliable. Their support service is wonderful. This company offers site building tools, application vault, web correspondence, antivirus, Php, MysQL and hosts unlimited websites in one plan. Don't go for free web hosting.They are not reliable. Curb it out here:

Overall information on free web hosting plus free domain name.
Geocities.com Freewebs.com anglefire.com there are more as well... but none that I remember of with a domain. sorry.
