I have a game called Freelancer and me and a gather of friends would like to make a clan server. However, we have been hosting it only when we want to play. Now we would like to let others to log on whenever they wish. Since none of us can leave our computers on indefinably, we are looking for a server to host the game on.

will hosting a game server on a non static ip be ok?

I have type fios and i want to host a skultag server (skulltag http://skulltag.com/ ) but my dad one tempo sayed that version does not want us hosting servers will it be ok if a host one? skulltag seems to be positively light last time i checked it uses netmode 1.
It depends, if you play the host one game at a time. then no its not a problem.
If you are going to run a perm server, then yes it will be a problem as the address will always need to be converted into to the same IP address. and as yours will change it will be a problem.

insufficiency to host a Star Wars Battlefront II dedicated game server on my PC. But my connection is only 384K, so you can think of the lag... :(
I want to host a server with 32 or 40 people on it, using my computer as a server. I will also use the same computer to play in the server (this is so I can have a dedicated server while still being masterly to play in it).
What kind of bandwidth do I need? 3M? 6M?
