how do i transfer hosting of my website to a different company?
Nov 17, 2008 by jojo | Posted in Programming & Design
I am a pygmy ignorant on these matters. I have a website with a zencart. I own the domain name. I want to transfer the hosting of my website from assemblage X to comany Y. What do I need to do? My current host has given me the address to access ftp files, but not persuaded what to do with them...I'm kind of lost...any help or explanations would be appreciated.
Write to your target hosting company technical support department for help with hosting the domain for you. Then transcript all your web content from the old provider to your local computer. Use an ftp tool like WS-FTP Home for this. Once you have captured your import, copy it to the new provider using ftp, and you should be in business. Keep your local copy of the content as a backup - ISP's sometimes yield stuff, and then find out their restore routines don't work !

I transferred my website to a new hosting company. How can I transfer the mysql database?
Jul 22, 2006 by nicholas m | Posted in Other - Internet
I transferred the hosting of my website from a coterie called Velnet because they refuse to answer any messages or emails.
When I tried to upload the spot to the new hosts I got an error message that my new hosts (fasthosts) informed me I needed to get the mysql database from my old hosts. Velnet will not explanation any corresspondance or agree to take the hosting back so my website is completely useless.
Who owns the mysql database and how can I efficacy my old hosts to cooperate with me ?
You own the MySQL database however it's stuc on the old server - It's unquestionably been deleted by now.
You should of checked out the documentation at MySQL.org - They can tell you about these things.
Also you should of looked in the contain panel at your old host - many will have back-up utility which will let you download everything including the databases.
Sounds like it's all things considered too late now - Sorry

Can I transfer my hosting (godaddy) to a different domain?
Aug 30, 2009 by Baby Blue | Posted in Computer Networking
Ive got godaddy hosting but it isnt reliable enough for my site. So I have another domain that is currently parked but I thought maybe I could transfer my hosting to that site. Is that viable?
You can have anyone assembly your domain services. They are yours as long as you pay for them. You just need to point your domain's manager name(s) at the IP address that your hoster gives to you.
For example, you can buy your domain from GoDaddy. Purchase hosting services from another band like Verizon or Network Solutions. Then point your domain to the IP address provided by the hosting crowd.
GoDaddy and your new hoster can help you with the process. Don't be afraid to give them a call.
They know specifics that are not at here at Y! Answers.
I hope this helps.

Over the last few days, I have been portion a confrere (I won’t introduce their name) reinstate their drill matter email talk. Unfortunately, my roomie did not advised the processes and opportunity frames that run the area hosting commerce. My acquaintance was having a lot of skirmishing sending emails to *@yahoo.com and *@aol.com accounts. I knowledgeable my SW compadre that they exigency to setup a back up DNS deeds with their email hosting provider. The big outcome started when their well-known property and hosting provider (name begins with a 1) could not (or would not) configure a underside DNS PTR. My mistress became outrageously frustrated because they could not send emails to their largest patient and later on called to rub out their hosting and email account. This right away fence in down all emails to/from their concern. I received a frightened call asking for domestics because my room-mate knew that my establishment provided hosting services, so we initiated a realm transfer at http://webhosting.echelon1ip.com . My cohort made the assumption that they could setup a new account in a few hours. We initiated a realm transfer and completed all of the required confidence verification checks and we were told the transfer could take 3 to 5 days. We are now on day 4 of the transfer make, and we keep getting the run-around from their ongoing hosting provider who has tech brace based out of the Philippines stating that the transfer is scheduled to materialize within 12 hours. Our notify figures center is in Phoenix, AZ and our sustenance techs are also in the Collaborative States. You may say that my pal should informed that they are still in the 3-5 day window; however, the incorrigible is now much more dear than the charge of a monthly hosting account — their $14,000 net profit a month purchaser has called so many times complaining that they want to associate with via email that they are now frustrated are winsome their area elsewhere. The conduct of the gest is that no substance how frustrated you get with your hosting provider, don’t let it negatively change your bottom hint cord! Do established you setup a new hosting provider and transfer your settings BEFORE you do away with neutralize your accepted hosting account.
