what is a good reasonably priced internet hosting provider?
Jun 25, 2009 by Roman | Posted in Computer Networking
I currently have 1and1 internet and they're indeed bad.
The emails I get with it are very very slow and ineffecient. I would like to use the emails with an outlook interface and 1and1 seem to harge too much or the upgrade required for this.
Any suggestions on a outstrip provider?
depending on your requirements, i'd favourably suggest godaddy, however if you might be expecting huge traffic spikes to your site from sources such as digg Mediatemple would be a better chance. i used godaddy for over a year, excellent customer service, and the same applies to mediatemple, as for godaddy don't responsibility about the bad press they have with nodaddy.com and godaddysucks.com as with great service comes enemies as well. I switched to mediatemple honest in case i might get a traffic spike, godaddy can't handle huge traffic spikes, however if that isnt a imbroglio go for godaddy.
Read my review on godaddy:

For email, would you prefer a gmail like interface? then you might be interested in this:

I have Qwest internet, and I call for to know if there is a way that I can get web hosting from them. Otherwise, does anyone know of any sites that are relatively inexpensive and effective for web hosting?
yahoo geocities is untouched by (ads will be shown on your finished page)
if you're looking to pay... (no ads) 1&1 has really worth prices for hosting & domains
godaddy claims to have good prices but I went with 1&1 for the hosting and sphere deal.

Internet provider for self web hosting?
Jun 28, 2009 by bloomjoin | Posted in Other - Internet
I'm planning to get a server shape, and do web hosting myself (instead of using a hosting company like godaddy). Is there any Internet provider who provides such internet connection? It looks like neither comcast nor verizon has such services? Thanks.
Hi Bloomjoin,
Comcast and verizon do have their own web hosting plans but you indigence to host your websites with them on their shared server. You have no control over the server. This option is worse than hosting with any dedicated hosting companies because it costs higher.
But if you fancy to host a server at home and run your website with that server, then no matter what ISP you use, so long as it's a tipsy-speed Internet connection, you'll be able to hook your server onto the world wide web. It's simply that you need to do some very tedious settings on your part and get everything to work.
Basically, these are what you need:
- a high-fly Internet connection (don't use dial-up... can kill you)
- get a DNS hostname for your home Internet connection
- get a noise IP address
- configure your router on port 80
- configure firewall
- install apache server program
These are solely some main things you need to do. It actually involves lots of details and the whole process of environment-up and testing plus security issues could take up much of your time.
If you just want to learn how web hosting works, then that's letter for letter fine. But if you want to build an online business, then I would really suggest you to outsource.
Go Daddy is not an romantic web hosting company to go with. It's good with domain hosting only. You might like to see if Host Gator's dedicated hosting suits you better which I'm hosting with them now and I find them exceptionally reliable and good.

But take note though, dedicated hosting could be up-market. You can click on other options in that page to tour around the site to find the cheapest deal.
Want that helps.
