First, Runescape is a registered trademark of Jagex Inc. Use of their name on anything other than the legal game available at http://www.runescape.com/ is a trademark violation and can result in fines and attainable jail time.

Jagex continously searches the net for illegal versions of its dissimulate and works with ISPs and webhosting services to shutdown these sites. They will not hesitate to indict anyone found violating their trademarks to the full extent of the law for the country that they are in.

Would you like it if you created some invention and placed copyrights/trademarks on it and someone else steals that output and claims it as their own, denying you of potential profits.

What's the difference between managing your own dedicated server and getting hosting service for one?

The pros and cons of having your own dedicated server to run and the pros and cons of getting it from a dedicated hosting service? And what type of website would benefit for either of them?

I concur with David except he left out one thing, which is speed. If your server resides in your building, you're going to be expert to access it at the speed of your local network, often 100Mb or even 1Gb/s. If the server is hosted remotely, you access the files over the internet. a characteristic broadband internet connection is perhaps 1-5Mb/s. So in the best case scenario access to the hosted server is common to be 1/20th as fast as access to the local server.

If you're only storing and retrieving very small files and you sine qua non to do it from many remote locations, hosted is a good option. If you're mostly working from one location and use the server any more than a not any bit, a local server is your best bet.

Hope this helps, and feel free to check out http://www.inovagent.com/record_servers for more information on local file servers.
