How come companies can afford to provide free web hosting but not free .com domains?

Saying that web hosting as usual costs 5 dollars a month, and domains usually cost 5-10 dollars A YEAR, how turn out people don't provide free domains?
Hey David, thanks for the very long fill but I already use 1 and 1 host. This is just a question I was wondering.
Web hosting is easier to offer for free since the space that is provisioned on the web server may already be paid for. But for a domain name, they cost the manageress per domain just as they cost you and I, so they would lose a lot of profit trying to provide rid .com names.

When I try to go to amazon.com website it goes to a web hosting site with code 508510. How to fix problem?
Feb 12, 2007 by ace | Posted in Other - Internet
This disturbed recently appeared and when I did some checking it appears that another web hosting site is redirecting me. any help would be appreciated.
this only happens when I try amazons website. I am not being redirected when I try other websites such as ebay or overstock.
Sounds like your browser was hijacked by some well-wishing of spyware or virus. Do a system scan with an updated virus scanner and spyware scanner and it should be talented to clear that up.

How can I create a website with yahoo web hosting with a domain that I bought with godaddy.com?

I positive it is possible, but don't know how. Is it free to transfer?
Thanks!
Hi Matt,
When you fabricate your website with Yahoo and get a domain name with Go Daddy, all you need to do is go into your domain control panel in Go Daddy and metamorphose the domain name server (dns) to make your domain name point to Yahoo's web server.
When you respond that action, it's free. But if you're transferring your domain name from one company to another company, then the transfer will get you money.
For example, let's say you want to transfer your domain name from Go Daddy to Yahoo, then Yahoo will invoice you for the transfer. After the transfer, your domain name will be hosted with Yahoo, not Go Daddy anymore.
But if you're wholly pointing the domain name from Go Daddy to Yahoo's web server (or web space), then you won't have to pay a dime. In this covering, your domain name is still hosting with Go Daddy, so any other changes in settings you want to make with your domain name, you still deprivation to access your Go Daddy's domain control panel.
Transferring and pointing empire name are two different things.
Here's a very good step-by-step guide on how to point your discipline name from Go Daddy to Yahoo server by changing the dns:
1. Go to http://diehardwebhosting.com
2. Click on the top sailing tab [Web Hosting Tips]
3. On the [Web Hosting Tips] page, look for the link [How to Point Your Domain Name to Third Social gathering Web Hosting Server (Web Space)?].
(Sorry about the trouble as the inactive url is too long and will get truncated and become out-of-the-way here)
Hope that helps. Cheers ;)

P.S. You may email me if you need further clarification.
