What is the cheapest dedicated Linux server hosting containerize available in Chicago? I'm looking for something similar to fastservers.net, but cheaper.
The data center and servers MUST be physically located in Chicago for my purposes.

It's not complex. Download Fedora Core 4 for free from http://www.redhat.com and install it on a computer. It will give you the options for what you need to install. Read all the option, install what you want, but remember, you're just experimenting -- if you make a hash of it up you can just reinstall!
