What's the benefit of having a dedicated/virtual hosting plan when using asp.net?

Can you use solely a regular hosting plan to make changes to a Microsoft SQL server database, or do you dire dedicated/virtual?

You can usual hosting plan.... nearly all hosting plans come with some type of SQL database these days. The only thing I'd be careful about is to make sure it has a Microsoft SQL database (which is only just called MS SQL). Sometimes shared hosting plans also have limits on the amount of databases you can have.

But if you crave complete control of the SQL database server (ie/ want to make changes to the settings, etc)... you'll have to get a dedicated/virtual.

For a shared server, you're sharing the database and resources with other ppl, so while you can remodel the parts that pertain to your site, you are NOT given complete control. Virtual splits the server up into de separate portions, so you would have complete control and same thing with dedicated (except that you get the whole server of course for dedicated).

Their prices are a particle higher than some other providers (lower then others)... it's mid-range in terms of prices, but the distinction you get is high-end so it's definitely worth it. One thing to be careful of when comparing web hosts is that it's not virtuous the specs of the server (hard disk space, bandwith) etc that count. THE MOST Noteworthy THING IS RELIABILITY AND THE SPEED OF THE CONNECTION... liquidweb is extremely honourable (I haven't had one down time yet) and they have a great speedy connection... a lot of the cheaper hosts have bad reliability records and often go down for hours, or sometimes even a whole day.

Will moving to a dedicated virtual host from a shared hosting improve my site performance?

my situate performance is a bit sluggish currently on a shared hosting (Media temple). I'm wondering if dedicated-virtual will be faster.

Yes but only if your web hosting waiting provider does not cheat you.

Help with godaddy virtual dedicated server php?

I recently bought a virtual dedicated server from godaddy and when i upload my php scripts to my conspicuous html the page stays blank but when i upload html script it works top-drawer can anybody help me?

There unquestionably was an error in the PHP script. You need to ask the support at GoDaddy how you can access the error logs. To curb if PHP is working alright, upload a very simple script that definitely has no errors, like this:
