What is a Dedicated IP Address ?

A hosting comrades offers that on its gold packet. I am thinking to go for the silver packet which is cheaper. Am I prosperous to loose much if I don't have a dedicated IP ?
I am planning to have some joomla sites in that host's servers.

No. A dedicated IP means your internet bond (at your modem, for example) has the same IP all the time.

Unless you're running a server and need to access it from the fa, you don't need a static IP.

What makes a 'Dedicated IP' better than a 'Shared IP'?

I am looking at choosing a hosting procedure with a web hosting company. They are offering a 'Dedicated IP' at an additional cost. Is this any good? I don't understand why it's outdo than using the standard 'Shared IP'.

From what i advised your not looking for a dedicated server, your looking for website hosting and they're offering you a Dedicated IP.

you could still be on a shared server, only you will have a seperate IP than the other accounts hosted on their server, this would advantage you if you're looking to use SSL certificates or if you would like users to be able to acces your website through an ip lecture.

personally i think the dedicated IP seperates my site from the rest on the server, for example if a melicious place is hosted on the same ip as yours then users may have the IP blocked and won't be able to get to your site, the same applys for email system, if for illustration MSN, Yahoo have the shared IP on a blacklist due to other acounts on the IP sending spam you will be under the blacklist because you are under the shared IP.

in my go through a Dedicated IP isnt to much extra cost £10 a year-ish is what i pay for a dedicated IP, and in my eyes it's worth it, i would definitly recomend it,

I'm reasoning about getting a host for a website. Should I get a plan with more than one dedicated ip address or just one since I'll be using two websites?

Yes.
It is called accepted hosting.
Works good with apache and IIS. You can host 100s of sites.
You will only start to destitution more ip's if you need secure (https) sites.
