I yen to open an online business that will allow customers to have accounts. Some managed dedicated hosting plans have features that others do not and I am a litte puzzling. One company mentioned something about bandwith overage but I was not sure on what it meant.

If you are scarcely making the jump from shared to dedicated, I would definately do the managed. They handle the backups, the machine care, etc. To me, them doing the daily backups alone makes it worth it. Their admin area is also dulcet comprensive so you dont really need much of an FAQ. Unmanaged means you have to know your way around ancient server applications, using putty, etc. It's not pretty, again, if you are just getting started out.
