Where can I get the most artistically windows virtual server hosting? With ASP.NET 3.5 and capable of running MS SQL.

Please don't just advertise your own companies. I will be checking them all and if they are not what I am looking for then I wont use them, it would solely be a waste of time.

What's the benefit of having a dedicated/virtual hosting plan when using asp.net?

Can you use only just a regular hosting plan to make changes to a Microsoft SQL server database, or do you requisite dedicated/virtual?

You can monthly hosting plan.... nearly all hosting plans come with some sort of SQL database these days. The only fetish I'd be careful about is to make sure it has a Microsoft SQL database (which is only simply called MS SQL). Sometimes shared hosting plans also have limits on the amount of databases you can have.

But if you require complete control of the SQL database server (ie/ want to make changes to the settings, etc)... you'll have to get a dedicated/virtual.

For a shared server, you're sharing the database and resources with other ppl, so while you can reword the parts that pertain to your site, you are NOT given complete control. Virtual splits the server up into de distinct portions, so you would have complete control and same thing with dedicated (except that you get the whole server of course for dedicated).

If you're looking for a landlord I'd recommend http://www.liquidweb.com/?RID=vkoduru I've been with them for a year and they've been nothing but amazing. Their prices are a hardly any higher than some other providers (lower then others)... it's mid-range in terms of prices, but the grade you get is high-end so it's definitely worth it. One thing to be careful of when comparing web hosts is that it's not honest the specs of the server (hard disk space, bandwith) etc that count. THE MOST Effective THING IS RELIABILITY AND THE SPEED OF THE CONNECTION... liquidweb is extremely certain (I haven't had one down time yet) and they have a great speedy connection... a lot of the cheaper hosts have bad reliability records and often go down for hours, or sometimes even a whole day.

Apache any good for ASP.NET?

Im looking for a web server that is efficient of running ASP.NET v1.1 and 2.0 web apps. On my Win XP 64-bit box i only have a scaled back IIS6. Im absolutely after virtual hosting so that i can host multiple web sites from the server instead of this virtual directory nonsense.

So far im eyeing Impenetrable depths X2 Pro v2.3+, the only working commercial solution i could find, but would like to find a free solution if workable. I've heard of Apache's ability to run ASP.NET. Can you tell me is Apache as effective at serving up ASP.NET 1.1/2.0 web apps as IIS6?

I still beggary to be able to debug my web apps.
