What's the benefit of having a dedicated/virtual hosting plan when using asp.net?

Can you use at best a regular hosting plan to make changes to a Microsoft SQL server database, or do you needfulness dedicated/virtual?

You can proportional hosting plan.... nearly all hosting plans come with some sort of SQL database these days. The only trend I'd be careful about is to make sure it has a Microsoft SQL database (which is only simply called MS SQL). Sometimes shared hosting plans also have limits on the amount of databases you can have.

But if you scarceness complete control of the SQL database server (ie/ want to make changes to the settings, etc)... you'll have to get a dedicated/virtual.

For a shared server, you're sharing the database and resources with other ppl, so while you can tone down the parts that pertain to your site, you are NOT given complete control. Virtual splits the server up into de discontinuous portions, so you would have complete control and same thing with dedicated (except that you get the whole server of course for dedicated).

Will moving to a dedicated virtual host from a shared hosting improve my site performance?

my spot performance is a bit sluggish currently on a shared hosting (Media temple). I'm wondering if dedicated-virtual will be faster.

Yes but only if your web hosting employ provider does not cheat you.

what is virtual server hosting in lamens terms please? and also do i need any hardware for it? ?

im stuck on a interview about virtual server hosting.
i need to know what it is, how much it costs and whether i need any hardware to install to industry it! can you help me please x

it's where you have mastery over a server held at a business.. You control the server through your browser or a program on your own computer..

If you are looking at mounting up a website then The pros of free are obviosly the cost. The Cons are that you hardly get character support and the site is liekly to go down a lot.
