Web hosting FAQ

How do I make a VPS hosting company on a Debian Server?

I would like to sign a VPS hosting company, like BODHOST's VPS'es and others. Basically just order a VPS and I can give a accepted machine to you and allocate resources. What server software would do the same on Debian linux?

Checkout xen.org. Xen is a virtualization heart and tools that enable your server to run virtual machines. Follow the instructions and you'll be up and management in no time.

Best

I just bought a VPS with debian. AND I AM SO CONFUSED!?

what should i do? where should i go? what the heck!!!

okay. the leading purpose of it is to run a mysql and another server off of it. but i dont even know how to put my files on there

i dont even know linux!

If you are on Windows, commandeer PSCP from the Putty download site and use pscp to copy your files to the aloof host.

Which is the best or most common VPS Operating System?

I am signing up for my first Accepted Private Server and have a choice of operating systems which are CentOS, Debian, Fedora Middle, Suse and Ubuntu.

Has anyone got any recomendations as to which would I should go for?

My VPS experience is very limited although I am a web designer so my general coding is ok.

Debian is the most sunlight weight, so you'd probably end up with the best performance (it's the only one that doesn't run a GUI by default), but Ubuntu is the easiest to set up.
